I'm Abinauv Selvaraj — a business consultant and technology advisor based in Chennai, India. I help organisations solve complex operational and technical problems using mathematical optimization, AI, and data-driven decision making.
My Journey
My career started in mechanical engineering, where I developed a deep appreciation for systems thinking and first-principles problem solving. During my undergraduate years at Anna University, I co-invented a car stability control mechanism for tire blowout scenarios, which was granted Indian Design Patent IN 475811.
The intersection of engineering and analytics drew me to pursue an MSc in Business Analytics at Lancaster University's Management School. There, I conducted research on multicriteria optimization under Dr. Jamie Fairbrother and Dr. Matthias Ehrgott, exploring solutions on both classical and quantum computing platforms.
In parallel with my academic journey, I've been actively trading derivatives and commodities since 2020. Building predictive algorithms and automated risk optimization models for commodity options trading has given me hands-on expertise in quantitative finance, achieving a 20% CAGR over a six-year period.
During my time in the UK, I completed an impactful internship at Lakeland Limited where I optimized e-commerce packaging efficiency using mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) and the Gurobi solver, delivering an annual saving exceeding £200,000.
Today, as a Business Consultant at Subraps Managed Services, I work alongside CXOs on multiple client projects — building and validating mathematical models for optimization, forecasting, and simulation, developing applications that improve client operations, and implementing AI agents to drive efficiency.
